My art practice begins with an immersive approach, entering non linear space through past, present and future modalities. This includes my ancestral background, my presence as a woman of color and exploring the future of society as it adjusts to climate change. The work I create takes on multiple forms, including painting, graphic comics and sculpture. Through these approaches I continually explore physical and psychological properties of water and the ocean; and understanding water as constant and at the same time a limited resource. In relation to the California coastline, I ask questions such as - who are the people that truly own public lands and what communities are being erased from these sacred spaces? How do current policies on the California coastline impact ocean and water access to under-served communities? Does climate change impact how diverse cultures navigate through the natural environment?
